Kadokawa announced on November 22 (“Good Couples Day” in Japan) that My Happy Marriage is getting a three-episode special in 2026. The special will air on TV in Japan and stream worldwide on Netflix, and Kadokawa shared a new visual with the announcement.

Kadokawa had already confirmed that new anime content was in production, and this special keeps the familiar team in place. Reina Ueda (Miyo) and Kaito Ishikawa (Kudo) are back to reprise their roles.

Most of the major staff from past seasons are returning as well:

  • Takehiro Kubota is once again directing at Kinema Citrus.
  • Mika Tanaka and Ikuho Negi are writing the scripts.
  • Sh?ko Yasuda, Hikaru Sato, and Kuniyuki It? return for character design.
  • Evan Call is back to compose the music.

A large portion of the returning staff is also onboard, including color design, photography, 3D direction, prop design, art direction, editing, sound direction, and kimono design. MIRACLE BUS is producing the music and Glovision is handling sound production.

About the series:

The light novels by Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka began in 2019. They follow Miyo, a girl from a noble family who has suffered under her stepmother, and Kiyoka, a soldier with a reputation for being cold and unapproachable. What begins as an arranged marriage slowly turns into emotional healing and a chance at real happiness.

A manga adaptation by Rito Kohsaka runs on Gangan Online, and both the novels and manga are available in English through Yen Press and Square Enix Manga.

A live-action film based on the novels opened in Japan in March 2023 and was a hit, debuting at #1 and selling nearly 480,000 tickets in its first three days.

A new website opened on Friday announcing that Now That We Draw (Kakunaru Ue wa), the manga by Ky? Takahata and Y?ji Kaba, is getting a TV anime adaptation. Ayumu Murase will voice Y?ki Uehara, and Sayumi Suzushiro will voice Niina Miyamoto.

The anime will be directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa (BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-) at ROLL2. Deko Akao, known for titles like Arakawa Under the Bridge and Komi Can’t Communicate, is in charge of series composition and scripts. Hiromi Nakagawa (WATATEN!, Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence) is handling character designs, and Infinite is producing.

Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the manga in English and describes the story as follows:

Uehara, a shy high schooler and aspiring mangaka, creates what he believes is the perfect romcom heroine. But when his manuscript gets rejected for lacking realism, he’s crushed—until he crosses paths with Niina Miyamoto, his cheerful and beautiful classmate who’s also struggling with her own manga. Since neither has any real romantic experience, Niina suggests the two of them enter a fake relationship to help improve their writing. The catch? Niina is nothing like the ideal heroine Uehara imagined, and Uehara is far from the cool male lead in her story. Their awkward “practice romance” might bring out better manga… or just more chaos.

The manga began in Young Animal magazine in 2023, and its fifth volume released in Japan in April. Seven Seas released volume 3 in English in October.
