TBS announced on Thursday that Midori Tayama’s Girl Crush manga is getting a TV anime. The series will air on TBS and other networks, with TBS TV and ENISHIYA producing. It’s being promoted as Japan’s first television anime with K-pop as its main theme, and more details on the broadcast date, staff, and cast will be revealed later.
Published in English by Viz, Girl Crush follows Tenka Momose, a top-student “cool girl” whose perfect life is shaken when she meets Erian Sato, an ordinary classmate aiming to become a K-pop idol. Inspired by Erian’s passion, Tenka decides to audition for a major Korean agency—but soon discovers that becoming an idol requires more than flawless skills.
The manga launched in 2020 on LINE Manga under Shinchosha’s Comic Nicola label and has over 900,000 copies in circulation across eight digital volumes and four print volumes. Viz released the third English volume in October, and the Korean edition won New Work of the Year at the 2021 Ridibooks Comic Awards.

Point Set announced on Tuesday that Watomura’s Tadaima, Ojamasaremasu! (I’m Home, Sorry for the Intrusion!) manga is receiving a TV anime adaptation set to air next year. The announcement revealed the main cast, staff, and a trio of connected teaser visuals featuring the series’ three leads:
The romantic comedy follows Rinko, a 24-year-old office worker and closeted otaku who decompresses with her favorite manga Usaneko-bu and anime marathons—until her right-side neighbor keeps pounding on the wall for quiet. When she asks her polite left-side neighbor Akito to help smooth things over, the right-side neighbor suddenly kicks the wall down… revealing himself as Haruma, the creator of the manga she adores. After Haruma also breaks through Akito’s wall, the three neighbors tumble into an unusual “room-sharing” lifestyle.
Itsuki Imazaki (Ai Mai Mi, Adventurers Who Don’t Believe in Humanity Will Save the World) directs the anime at Tatsunoko Production and handles series composition with Makoto Takada. Shunsuke Kikuchi (Hensuki, Migi & Dali, Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) serves as character designer and chief animation director.
Watomura launched the full-color manga on Comic Cmoa in 2020, and it has surpassed 12 million downloads. Kadokawa will release the first full-color print volume on December 1, followed by the second on December 27, both featuring exclusive bonus stories.
