
Hakusensha has officially announced that a sequel anime for Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona) is currently in development. The news was revealed in the second 2026 issue of Hana to Yume magazine.
Alongside the anime news, the magazine confirmed several major updates for the manga series:
- The final chapter of Yona of the Dawn has been published
- An extra chapter and a supplementary fan book will be released
- These additional materials will appear in the sixth issue of Hana to Yume, shipping on February 20
About the Series
The Yona of the Dawn TV anime originally aired in 2014 with a total of 24 episodes. The franchise later received three original anime DVDs released between 2015 and 2016. Funimation handled the home video release of the TV series.
The manga, written and illustrated by Mizuho Kusanagi, began serialization in Hana to Yume magazine in 2009. The series entered its final arc in June 2024.
- Volume 46 was released on June 20
- Volume 47 is scheduled to ship on February 20, 2026
- Viz Media has licensed the manga in English, with Volume 45 released on December 2
Story Overview
Yona is a sheltered princess whose peaceful life is shattered after a sudden betrayal. Forced to flee her kingdom with her loyal bodyguard Hak, she begins a long journey of survival, growth, and self discovery as she fights to reclaim her destiny.

A one hour Winter special for the Undead Unluck TV anime has confirmed that production on a second season has been officially approved.
