Kotowari announced on Friday that Haruka Kawachi’s Rainy Day Serenade manga will receive a television anime adaptation in 2027. Kawachi also shared a special visual to celebrate the news.
Kodansha USA Publishing has licensed the manga and will begin releasing it in two in one omnibus volumes starting in fall 2026.
Kodansha USA describes the story as follows:
On rainy days, Hina dreams of her younger self playing with a mysterious boy in a garden she does not recognize. One day, she unexpectedly finds that very place. There, she meets a young man named Takaaki, who mistakes her for his fiancée Hinako. When he takes her back to what he believes is her home, Hina discovers her double waiting there and realizes she is no longer in modern Tokyo, but in Japan in the year 1907. What begins as a dream soon turns into something far more mysterious.
Kawachi launched the manga in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine in 2014 and concluded it in November 2025. Kodansha released the 14th and final compiled volume on Friday.
Kawachi is also known for several other works:
