During what I would consider was the Renaissance years of the Internet. There's a site, although now is just a shell of its former self, that used to be one of the centers/hubs for like-minded individuals who just wanted a community who loved anime, art, and games. It used to be this virtual cosplay convention where anyone who were mostly like myself, introverts who wanted to belong to a community that liked to talk about various themes mainly anime related, would hang out while posing as the chibi cosplays of avatars they wanted to be. I tried visiting the website after more than a decade and saw that the forum section was still pretty busy, new content were still posted mainly by old members of the site. It still gives the cozy comfortable feeling that the internet of a bygone era used to give.
I was on Gaia all the time back in the day. I'm surprised to hear it's still alive and kicking lol. I met a lot of friends on there! I was in the anime forums all the time looking for new rec's. I'll have to sign into my old account and cringe at everything my 13 year old self felt the need to put on the internet hahaha
you can still return to the game, but it feels kinda sad seeing all the other game modes that are now quiet, but the community is still there mostly just talking around.
I still log onto GaiaOnline once in a while.
It's definetly not the same as before, as well as not as active either. Some threads are quite active still, like CB, GD, and I believe Heaven as well as Avatar Talk. But it's a mostly dead site at this point.
I don't talk to many people on there now when I do log in, I mostly just like to dress up my character and that's about it.
