Sanda (anime Review): High Concept, uneven Execution

sanda delivers a surreal premise- santa claus mythology meets birthrate crisis- but stumbles in execution.

Story: story starts strong but loses focus. beginning we are told japan is in middle of a crisis when newborns are rare and considered precisous, with social commentary that feels more like a window dressing then substance.

animation; clean but unremarkable. it does have some key action elements but its inbewteen.

pacing: inconsistent. key developments feel abrupt in a supposed declining birthrate and pressure on traditional familes the story leans into surreal wish fulfillment and loses focus.

music: it rarely supports the tone or elevates scenes.

despite its ambition, sanda never quite clicks. it gestures at big ideas- identity, governement pressure, cultural decay- delivers them with more noise then substance

Absolute FIRE! This movie is a gem! I originally watched in with my brother a few years back and it was so fun. It has the classic body-swap mechanic, but with a twist that twists and shatters your heart into pieces. The ending is really good too. And it's so funny. Overall, 9/10 movie. It wasn't the best of the best, but it was really good.

Suffiecently entertaining. The spider's growth and battle scenes were very exciting. The storyline had you wondering who was really the bad guys until the end and left off needing another season. Overall, I would say it is bingeworthy with some crazy plot twists at the end. Seriously needs closure though.

An excellent series showing how history and mythology blur in a similar genre to Dante's trilogy. At 24 episodes it is not complete. The last episode rushed to provide some type of closing narrative. At the story and character progression pace 3 episodes more could have been beneficial for ending around 24 episodes mark. The animation and voice acting with music and sound effects can still be polished quite a bit with a remastered version. Compared to other similar anime I am being overly critical, because the anime is worth a higher budget.

'Yet another Isekai.' but honestly, this brought back the feeling of wonder and excitement for adventure that all of the copy/pasted Isekai garbo we've had shoved in our faces lacked. I have simply watched the first episode at the time of this review. But.. I can say this one is worth checking out.

It's giving Overlord vibes, with a slight sprinkling of Grimgar.

It's a short series, but for what it's worth it covers a good amount of story within such a short time. I love this type of style or anything that's close to/is chibi. That for sure helped in rating loll. Ofc I wish for the eps to be longer, 3/4 mins of ep is fine butttt could also be longer

I wasn't fully especting to like it the way I did! I would say it is a bit homoerotic but that could also just be from me watching a lot of BLs recently loll. I'd give this show at least an 8.9/10 I wish there was a few more episodes and if there were more focus on some of the background characters watching the interactions of the maincast.
